My name is Sara and I am the new site manager for Bowhaus Boulder! Growing up, my family had a silky terrier, named Boomer. Boomer was more of a one person kind of dog and, unfortunately, I was never his person. I’ve always liked dogs but it wasn’t until I moved to Michigan to live with my aunt and her golden, Tanner, that I understood the human-dog bond and connection. Tanner was my best friend and some of the happiest times in my life were going to the dog beach with him. He was a typical retriever; when you would throw a stick into the lake for him, he would come back with three.
Sometimes he would even come back with other dog’s toys! He enjoyed walking himself by carrying his own leash in his mouth and just looking at him always made you feel better on a bad day, Sadly, Tanner passed away a few years ago and I haven’t had another dog since but, I know there will be one (or five) in the future! Until then, don’t be surprised if you see me on the cameras from time to time loving on your dog.
When I moved back to Colorado, I started school for psychology and began working my way up the corporate ladder for a restaurant. I soon discovered that human psychology wasn’t for me and switched to business. While I was very successful at managing a business, I knew that the food service industry wasn’t the industry I wanted to be in forever. When enough was enough and it was time to move on, I asked myself what made me happy and when I was happiest in my life. Tanner was my first and most prevailing thought. So I got a job with a pet store that offered dog training and quickly found a new passion. While the company I was working for put me through a basic training program, I found myself craving more knowledge and constantly doing research to better serve my clients. I soon reached a cap on my potential for growth with my position within this company and wanted more, which is how I came to where I am now!
I am now with a dog training company that I can continue to grow with as a trainer. I teach group classes in Denver two nights a week, as well as in-home private training sessions in my free time. The rest of my time is spent at Bowhaus, ensuring that your furbabies are in good hands! In the short time that I’ve been with Bowhaus, it is apparent to me that I am finally with the right company. I have enjoyed getting to know all of your dogs as well as some of you! I look forward to further building relationships with you all!
