Boarding Requirements

Vaccinations: All dogs must have proof of current vaccinations: Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper-Parvo (DHPP / DAPP2), and both H3N2 & H3N8 Strains of Canine Influenza. Please don’t hesitate to call us with any questions. We also accept vaccination titer tests to prove the dog’s immunity. If your dog cannot receive a vaccination for health reasons, you must have a waiver letter from your vet.

Spayed / Neutered: All dogs over 12 months of age must be spayed or neutered to visit Bowhaus for Boarding or Daycare.

Trial Day: All dogs who wish to board or attend dog daycare at Bowhaus must go through a Trial Day, which allows us to get to know your dog and make sure they socialize well with others so that we can provide the best possible environment for your pup! Why is a trial day required? The purpose of the Trial Day is for us to get to know your dog, for them to get to know us, and for all of us to be sure it’s a good fit. This day of daycare also helps a dog know that, if they are boarded, they are not being abandoned at an unfamiliar place, but will be picked up by their human eventually. On a dog’s Trial Day, we strongly recommend and prefer that you bring your dog as close to 7am as possible. Being one of the first dogs in the yard ensures your dog has the easiest entry into our social environment. We also request you don't pick up before 4pm, so they can have at least a little time in the kennel after daycare ends at 3:15.

Daily Report Cards

Daily Summary

When you pick up your canine companion at the end of their stay, you’ll receive a detailed report card about your pooch for each day they spent with us. We make it our mission to share some of the highlights of their visit, provide general disposition, behavior, and mood notes, and often times give you something a little extra such as pictures and videos! When you pick up your dog from our care, you’ll be emailed and/or texted a message with their doggy report card so you can review how their stay with us was!

Feeding Summary

In your doggy’s report card, you’ll find their feeding report. For every meal provided to them, we’ll mark whether they ate all, some, or none of their food. For some pups, it’s absolutely normal for them to skip or reduce their meal intake while they are in a new environment. If you notice they did not eat for a day or two, don’t be alarmed. At Bowhaus, we’ll do our best to encourage your pooch to eat, whether that be by enticing them through hand feeling, adding a little warm water, or sometimes giving them wet food (if no allergies are indicated)

Medication Notes

When your fur baby requires extra care, we know how much you worry about them while you are away. It’s our mission to ensure that you have peace of mind knowing they are in great hands and that their medication is being properly administered. In your report card, we’ll make sure to document when your pup received their medication or if your dog refused the medication.

Sleep Times for Our Canines

On average, most dogs sleep 13-18 hours a day, that’s why our furry guests sleep snugly in their kennels from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am. Dogs in our care tend to play the day away and are ready to get lots of rest at night. We’ve learned that almost all dogs, even small puppies, do not need a potty break within this time period, as they’ll have plenty of opportunity during the day!

Boarding FAQs

Am I charged based on the size of my dog?

No! At Bowhaus, we believe that whether you have a big, lovable pooch or a tiny, vivacious pup, they all deserve the same amount of care and attention!

What Should I Bring For My Pet's Stay?

Food

We strongly discourage changing your dog’s dietary habits during their stay and require that you provide us with the food that your pet eats regularly in a labeled airtight container or Ziploc bag. We don’t charge extra for accommodating special diets and ask that you provide us with any allergies or preferences your dog has in the event that we need to supplement their food.

*Please note: If you only feed your dog once a day, we will split that meal into two portions to help reduce the risk of bloat.

Bedding

We want all of our guests to have the ultimate at-home experience, and therefore encourage you to bring your dog’s own bedding. This allows them to sleep on something familiar and creates a comfortable environment for them to rest in. We do have bedding available, but it is very limited and strongly urge you to bring your own for your pup’s sake! We request that you please limit the number of items you bring for your dog to one bed/ blanket and one toy.

Medication

We are happy to administer any medications your dog may need, at intervals that are required, at no additional charge. We require (as is required by law) that their pharmaceutical (prescription) medications are given to us in their original un-expired prescription bottles, with accurate dosage information (as prescribed by your veterinarian) intact on the bottle, and some contents still in the container. If your dog needs to have any medication administered for the purpose calming please call the resort for further instructions.

Can I have someone else pick up my dog?

Absolutely! However, we do require that you list anyone who you’ve authorized to pick up your pup when you open an account with us. If you do not have someone listed, we ask that you provide us with the name of the person when you drop your dog off. Payment is needed at checkout, so please ensure that whoever is picking up your pooch can pay, or that you have left your credit card information with us so we may process the payment.

Can you cater to my dog's special feeding routines or other needs?

We want to emulate your dog’s at-home experience as much as possible, and so we are more than willing to add supplements, give them refrigerated items, or accommodate other needs that are not too complicated. We do ask that you do what you can to ease the process for us by pre-mixing or grouping needed items together in a bag, and provide us instructions that explain each step of the process.

What's the protocol for dogs that don't eat?

Just like their human counterparts, sometimes being in an unfamiliar environment can make a dog a bit uneasy, and therefore not very hungry. Missing a meal is nothing to be worried about, however if a dog continually skips meals, our staff will add a bit of water to their food to make it more fragrant. If that doesn’t entice them to eat, we’ll first ensure they have no allergies, and then mix a bit of wet food into their kibble.

Boarding Reviews & Testimonials

We have over 300 5-Star Reviews! See what some of our Pup Parents had to say about Boarding at Bowhaus!

Best place to take your dog for daycare/boarding! The staff at Bowhaus Boulder is incredibly professional and patient with my anxious dog Buster. They take time to make him feel comfortable every visit (special shout-out to Harry!) and are incredibly organized with his food, bedding and medication. Added plus - they have webcams where you can check on your dog throughout the day and daily report cards so you know how they did! Very trustworthy business and can’t recommend enough.

Nixie M.

We use Bowhaus a couple of times a month for daycare as well as holiday boarding. They always do a great job. Boarding includes daycare every day, which is great. When we board they always give our pup some extra human-time after daycare is over, which he loves (and needs). Pro-tip, keep an eye out for Black Friday deals on punch cards.

Scott A.

Our dog loves being able to have time each day to play with other dogs, so many boarding options lack the opportunity for socialization/play, and we so appreciate knowing that she's having some fun when we go away. And, besides the loving and competent care, it's such an appreciated perk to receive a daily picture and report care each day that we're apart!
